Let's break the mold and get back to natural systems. Large herbivores grazed across the landscapes and the wildlife thrived, but over time we've forgotten how to use grazing animals to still benefit the landscape. In this video, we discuss the importance of rotating cattle and prevent overgrazing. This rotation replicates the historical bison herds and creates enough disturbance to benefit wildlife like quail, turkeys, and other birds. This disturbance also stimulates forbs to grow and they provide forage and additional cover for wildlife. All this talk about grazing could also mean money in your pockets! Wondering where all the quail and turkeys went? Take a good look at your farm, it might be a grazing disturbance that you're missing.
