Acorns can be a blessing in disguise or an obvious curse. Their existance in the landscape are critical to forest regeneration as well as preparing vairous animals for winter. In a timber setting, they can be the difference between life and death. How can something so positive for many mammals, cause so many troubles for hunters! This year in our area, white oak acorns are everywhere. As discussed in other podcasts, the influence of whiteoak acorns on deer patterns is off the charts! In a matter of a few days, patternable bucks have seemed to vanish. Whiteoak acrons cause irregular feeding patterns that make hunters each fall to pull their hair out. The best hunters though see this in advance and change their tactics accordingly! This week we discuss some of the ways we will alter our hunting approach now that the white oak acorns have dropped. With food everywhere, it is time to narrow our focus and hunt closer to the bedroom. Be sure to follow along as we share our secrets to hunting in these conditions.
