One of the goals we have set for Land & Legacy is to change mindsets when it comes to land management. Oftentimes, we have found that the current world of land management has an improper value set on food plots, mineral, and supplemental feeding. This is tainting the value that managing our natural resources can provide to wildlife.
This week on the podcast, we are looking at the success one of our clients from Ohio, Todd Watts, has had. He has been managing his farm for 3 years now and like most, when making improvements, he focused solely on food plots. Although he has some success with this, he knew it was limited. He further improved his property by turning hay fields into crop fields, adding more temporary food resources, but still left some major voids in his plan.
His farm was missing cover! Cover is one of the key elements you need to hold and grow big deer on your property. Todd called Land & Legacy and we helped redirect the use of his time and resources. There was a large acreage left unmanaged and the old pasture land was dominated by fescue. Now those acres are covered in native forbs that provide quality cover and 3,000 pounds of digestible forage annually!
A change in mindset has changed the productiveness of his property. To learn more about how his property was transformed, we hope you will give this podcast a listen!
