This week we bring on Land & Legacy consultant Kyle Hedges to discuss proven dove hunting tactics. Kyle is an avid land manager and dove hunter. Over the years he has applied some non-traditional methods to filling the freezer with doves. Today we will discuss in detail how to manage natives for great dove hunting opportunities.
In previous podcasts, we have talked about how to create the perfect sunflower patch for doves. This time we are discussing how to use cattle pastures, cattle ponds, girdling and spraying trees for roost sites, and native weeds to hunt doves smarter. Ragweed, wholly croton, and barnyard grass are some of the top species that attract doves as season opens up. Knowing what the land use is and working with local farmers can find these spots that make great dove hunting locations.
If you want to learn more about how to scratch out a limit of doves this season be sure to give this podcast a listen and to share with your dove hunting buddies!
